OTEPTA WEEKLY NEWSLETTER                                    June 11, 2008

NO PTA MEETING THIS MONTH.  Please note that the last meeting of the OTEPTA was held on May 15th, when the election and installation of new officers took place. Please visit our website at www.otepta.org for information regarding the OTEPTA 2008-2009 Executive Committee.

DIALOGUE.  The final dialogue with Mr. Dennis Rossi, Principal of CDW, will take place on Monday, June 16th, at 10:00 a.m.  Please contact Maria Ferrara, 201-768-5515 if you would like to add an agenda item.  We appreciate the time our Superintendent of Schools and our Principals have set aside each month for the Dialogues and thank Maria Ferrara for coordinating this program over the past year.

GRADS.  With 8th grade graduation coming up on June 19th and the Crossing–Over Ceremony for 4th graders on the 20th, we take this opportunity to CONGRATULATE ALL THE GRADUATES! Good luck in your new schools.

SUMMER MAILING.  You will be receiving the annual PTA summer mailing by the end of this week.  THE FORMS ENCLOSED IN THE PACKAGE REQUIRE YOUR IMMEDIATE ATTENTION AND SHOULD BE RETURNED BY JUNE 20TH, to our new PTA Mail Box located outside of CDW.  If you do not receive the mailing, you may download the forms from our website, www.otepta.org.  The package contains the following forms:  PTA membership, pizza lunch order, class parent sign-up, volunteer & committee descriptions, directory flyer, directory sign-up instructions, tennis registration for the September clinic, payment form.  On the payment form, please disregard the line that says “You need to submit the information even if you did it last year.”  If you ARE in the current directory, and DO NOT have any changed information, you do not need to enter your info. again.  If you are NOT in the current directory, or if your information DOES need to be updated, please enter your current info. via the PTA directory web page.  We are grateful to Brett Kuehner, whose expertise in technology has made it possible for the PTA to make huge strides in communication with its membership.  Brett designed our website, updates it weekly, sends out our PTA email newsletters and plays an integral role in the preparation of our directory through the on-line sign-up process.

THANKS TO ALL.  During my term as PTA president this year and co-president last year, it has been very rewarding to be part of a team that works cooperatively alongside teachers and administration for the purpose of enriching the children’s academic experience through programs such as educational assemblies, after school clubs, social activities, cultural celebrations, authors-in-residence, etc.   You can bet that the PTA makes a big difference in our school community and it’s great to be involved.  I appreciate all the volunteers who have given their time and interest in making it possible for our children to have the benefit of the PTA events, as none of these would be possible without your help.  I hope you will join me in extending best wishes to Natalie Wong and the new executive committee in their leadership roles, and I urge you to lend your support by volunteering so that the PTA can continue to offer so many wonderful programs in the next school year.  HAVE A GREAT SUMMER!
